Operating Modes

Check out Pine Algo’s operating modes: DCA mode for stable position averaging and Sniper mode for precise entries - adjust the strategy to the market and your trading style.

Pine Algo

Pine Algo umożliwia rozwijanie i optymalizowanie strategii automatycznych w PineScript na platformie TradingView.

Pine Algo offers two main operating modes: DCA (Dollar-Cost Averaging) and Sniper. Each is designed to give the trader full control over how positions are opened and managed, the level of risk, and capital exposure - while maintaining maximum mathematical precision and full signal transparency.

These modes allow traders to flexibly tailor their strategy to their individual trading style, current market conditions, and preferred level of automation.

DCA Mode (Dollar-Cost Averaging)

DCA mode is an approach that involves gradually entering the market by averaging positions as the price moves in a certain direction. This limits the risk of a single entry and makes the equity curve smoother and more stable.

The strategy in this mode allows additional positions to be purchased after a specified price drop, lowering the average acquisition cost and reducing the impact of short-term fluctuations. This is particularly useful for long-term investors who value stability, consistency, and gradual portfolio growth.

To configure the DCA strategy:

1) Select the DCA operating mode.

2) Set the Drop percent - the percentage value at which the strategy will automatically add more positions in the direction of the main signal.

Example: If Drop percent is set to 2%, the strategy will open the next position after the price drops by at least 2% from the previous entry.

3) Set the maximum number of entries (pyramiding) - this parameter defines how many times the strategy can add a position within a single trading session. Pyramiding can be controlled using native TradingView parameters.

With these settings, the strategy spreads risk over time, and each entry is executed according to plan, without emotional decisions. DCA mode works especially well in highly volatile markets, such as cryptocurrencies, where a single entry could generate excessive risk.

Sniper Mode

Sniper mode focuses on single, precise entries with the highest probability of success. Instead of averaging positions, the strategy only selects moments that meet strict logical conditions, resulting in fewer trades but significantly higher quality.

Sniper is ideal for active traders who prefer short-term trades, rapid responses to changing conditions, and strict risk control.

To configure the Sniper strategy:

1) Select the Sniper operating mode.

2) Set the Drop percent - the percentage at which the strategy will automatically execute a Stop Loss order.

Due to the nature of Sniper, we recommend combining it with additional confirmations using plugins (filters). These allow even more precise signal filtering and help avoid false entries. Plugins can analyze factors such as trend alignment, momentum strength, volume dynamics, or the relationship of price to moving averages.

With active filters, Sniper becomes highly effective, executing only logically justified orders and eliminating random trades caused by short-term market anomalies.

Adjusting the mode

Both modes - DCA and Sniper - are fully configurable and can be switched at any time directly from the TradingView interface. Users have full freedom to set parameters such as Drop percent, pyramiding, position size, risk limits, or technical filters.

Thanks to this flexibility, Pine Algo can serve both as an analytical tool for evaluating market signals and as a fully automated strategy, executing logical decisions in a balanced and predictable manner.

In practice:

  • DCA mode allows stable portfolio growth through systematic averaging of positions and risk control.
  • Sniper mode enables precise, short-term entries with the highest probability of success - especially when combined with signal-filtering plugins.

With these two modes, Pine Algo adapts to any trading style - from passive investing to active trading - ensuring a balance between safety, effectiveness, and control.
