Chainlink LINK

Description

Chainlink (LINK) is a decentralized oracle network launched in 2017 that connects smart contracts with real-world data. Traditional blockchains are isolated systems, unable to directly access external information such as asset prices, weather data, or payment systems. Chainlink solves this limitation by providing secure, tamper-resistant data feeds through a network of independent oracles. This makes it a key infrastructure layer for decentralized finance (DeFi), insurance, gaming, and other blockchain-based applications that rely on accurate off-chain inputs.

The native token, LINK, is used to pay node operators for delivering reliable data and securing the network. Over the years, Chainlink has become the industry standard for oracles, powering many of the largest DeFi protocols including Aave, Synthetix, and Compound. With features like Chainlink Proof of Reserve and Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), the project continues to expand beyond price feeds, aiming to connect all blockchains and traditional systems in a seamless web of decentralized services.
