Cardano ADA

Description

Cardano (ADA) is a third-generation blockchain platform launched in 2017 by Input Output Global (IOG) and co-founded by Charles Hoskinson, one of Ethereum’s original co-founders. Built on a scientific, peer-reviewed approach, Cardano emphasizes security, scalability, and sustainability. It uses the Ouroboros Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus protocol, which allows ADA holders to participate in network validation and governance while keeping energy consumption low compared to traditional Proof-of-Work blockchains. Cardano supports smart contracts, decentralized applications (dApps), and custom token creation through its native language, Plutus.

Over the years, Cardano has positioned itself as a blockchain for long-term, sustainable development with a strong focus on academic rigor and real-world applications. Its ecosystem spans finance, supply chain, identity management, and education, particularly in developing regions. While adoption and dApp activity have historically lagged behind competitors like Ethereum and Solana, Cardano continues to grow steadily, emphasizing reliability, formal verification of smart contracts, and community-driven governance. ADA, the native token, powers transactions, staking, and participation in the network’s governance processes.
